Life’s Journey & Testimonial
I found this letter at Helene’s, and I thought you would enjoy reading about another’s life journey.
Clearly, based on the note Helene wrote on the envelope, she felt Stan’s story was a good example of how implementing the metaphysical lessons she taught in The Name It & Claim It Game led to success. As she always stated, “There is no failure. Only a delay in results.” Now, it’s being shared with you.
Dear Helene,
I received your book “The Name It and Claim It Game” and just finished reading it. As I read, I was reminded of my own sweepstakes/contest successes over the past 20 years. For a period of time, I was on an amazing streak of good fortune. I won trips, computers, money, as well as opportunities to meet some of the most amazing people you could imagine. I fell into my dream job. My favorite win story was when I was working for a large computer company. We had a record year, and they were going to give a brand new $3000 computer to the employee who most closely picked the total number of computers we were going to sell for that year. At first, I put down 1,200,000. You were supposed to email your guess. I was getting ready to send it when a thought out of nowhere came into my mind. It said, “That’s ridiculous. Lots of people will put a rounded number like that as their guess.” The company had over 14,000 employees. I said out loud, “Well, then give me a good number.” Without thinking, I typed 1,311,572. A few weeks later, I decided to call headquarters because they never announced a winner. When I told them who I was and why I was calling, they seemed stunned. “We thought you cheated,” the voice on the other end said. “The actual number was 1,311,575. You missed by 3.” I told them what happened and they gave me the computer. Unfortunately, that all ended a while back.
Enclosed, you will find a check for $1.50. From your words, I’ve deduced you to be an incredible person of character. I used to be such a person, but I let the cynicism of this world knock it out of me. I’m trying to get back to that person, and sometimes, the little things keep tripping us up. When I paid via PayPal, I used a credit card. There was a fee associated with it, which I had the option of paying or letting you incur. I thought if you objected, you would request that fee prior to sending the book. After reading it, I realized you would have sent it regardless, as you truly desire to encourage and build up, not tear down. I know it’s not much, but it’s a principle I wouldn’t have thought twice about in days past. Accept my full payment, and thank you.
It’s not an excuse, but there was a reason for my penny-pinching ways. As I mentioned above, I was very successful and, as some would like to say, led a charmed life. Lady luck was definitely riding in my car. I have an incredible wife and six amazing kids. A few years back, I lost my job and was forced into self-employment. In 2002, I think I contracted West Nile Virus. It almost killed me, and being self-employed, it also nearly bankrupted us. We’ve managed to scrape by since but continue to fall further and further into debt until, finally, we are faced with losing our house. Looking back, I’m surprised we lasted this long.
Over this past year, I’ve begun dabbling in sweeps and contests again with a VERY modest degree of success. If you don’t mind, I would ask that you exercise your power to help me become a positive force again. I’ve been trying to get back into the workforce, but at 55, I don’t even get interviews despite a strong resume. I keep trying to visualize a large contest win in hopes of turning our finances around, but I know I get more desperate than confident. I know what you’ve written is true. I’ve experienced it for myself, yet I can’t seem to get back there. I might get there with a bit of assistance from you.
Well, I rambled way too long; thanks again for the book. I really enjoyed it.
Sincerely,
Stan Lindstadt
NOTE: Grammerly red-lined 1/2 of this letter. I couldn’t help myself. I fixed all of Stan’s grammatical and spelling errors.
I do not know if Helene replied to Stan, but I can already ‘hear’ her advice straight out of Chapter One of The Name It & Claim It Game:
The following personal experiences that I’ll share with you are not to tell you how great I am… but to clue you in on how great you are. There’s a saying that tells you so: “All these things that I do, you can do, and more.”
Yes, Helene most likely did send positive energy to Stan, as prayer is powerful. However, I am also sure she reminded him he had the power within him to change his life for the better.
I have shared a video by Stephen Dobos below, as he is a Silva Method instructor teaching others how to find the power within. (He is also the one I am taking my Silva Method instructor training with.)
What do you do to shift into positivity?
