Being Part of the Flow of Life
Robert Ohotto teaches us to “live as if you are the answer to someone’s prayer.” I’ve always loved that idea, but I never imagined I would experience it so clearly. On August 14th, 2025, I found myself in the middle of a moment that showed me exactly what that quote looks like in real life.
AUGUST 13th
Over lunch at Spring Creek Barbeque, when George and I took Dike and Pheona Hadsell out, Dike told us a story about the Formica house his mother, Helene, had won. This was the famous home she manifested and won through a national contest. He explained how the foundation began settling unevenly after a few years, how the house had been built on a slab supported by pilings, and how his father, Pat, ended up crawling underneath the house to fix the problem himself.
I was surprised that such a well-built home would have issues so quickly, but as it turns out, the soil in that area is classified as “dynamic.” It’s a common challenge.
Later that afternoon, back at the Hadsells’, Dike and Pheona handed me an old photo album filled with pictures and clippings that had never been shared publicly. Moments like that are exactly why I packed an old inkjet printer for the road trip. While George relaxed and watched TV, I spent hours scanning everything. Some images showed Helene receiving major prizes; others captured intimate family moments I had never seen before. It felt like holding history in my hands.
As I scanned, I felt an intuitive nudge to bring a set of the Formica publicity photos to the Formica house the next day. I didn’t know why—it just felt like the right thing to do.
AUGUST 14th
After breakfast and saying goodbye to Dike, we stopped at Walmart so I could print the photos. I tucked them into a greeting card in case the homeowners weren’t there and I needed to leave them in the mailbox.
After a few errands, we finally arrived at Helene’s former home. This time, the owners were home. When he opened the door and saw me, he said, “I was looking for your card. The one you left last year, because I had a question about the foundation, and I thought you might be able to connect me with someone who could answer it.”
WHAT?!
It hit me in that instant: I had stepped directly into someone’s unspoken request. I had answered a question he hadn’t yet asked out loud.
That was the moment I realized how often we are part of the flow of life without even knowing it. As our days unfold, we are constantly offering gifts, answers, encouragement, empathy, kindness, and love. Sometimes we’re even the messenger. And of course, the reverse is true if we’re irritated or rushed, we can send the opposite energy without meaning to.
My message to you is to move through your day consciously, knowing that everything you share becomes part of the grand tapestry of the Universe. You never know when you’re the answer to someone’s prayer.
