Helene Hadsell is The Winning Sage – Part 5

In 2009, Vishen Lakhiani and his team from Finer Minds (now Mindvalley) interviewed Helene Hadsell and created a program called The Winning Sage, which included 13 videos, 4 audio recordings, and a PDF version of the 2nd Edition of Contesting: The Name It & Claim It Game.

Since clips from those interviews are widely shared on Instagram and TikTok, I thought it would be prudent to create a blog series featuring highlights, along with the full video (or audio) from each interview, to ensure Helene’s teachings don’t get lost in quick sound bites.

“The greatest discovery you’ll ever make is the potential of your own mind.”
José Silva

Interview Five

Helene first encountered José Silva, founder of the Silva Method, at a lecture in Fort Worth. She was fascinated by his work, and before long, she helped him establish his program in the Dallas area. (You can read about their first meeting in How Helene Hadsell Learned The Silva Method.)

Her Spirit Guides

One story she tells really illustrates how Helene approached the ideas she was learning. José asked her to open up the Chicago area. She had no idea where to begin, plus at that time, she didn’t like to fly. She sat down and thought, essentially, somebody someplace has got to help me.

The phone rang.

A woman who had read one of Helene’s magazine articles called and offered to do exactly what Helene needed. She had a place they could use, connections, and the ability to organize everything. Helene’s response was simple: “I didn’t do it. Guides were doing it.”

Whether you call it guidance, intuition, manifestation, or simply being open to opportunities, Helene experienced this repeatedly. She would get an idea, put it out there, and then pay attention to what happened next.

Stop The Bleeding

On New Year’s Eve, Helene and her husband were driving home when another car crashed into them. Helene was badly injured and bleeding heavily. In the middle of the chaos, she says she heard a voice, “Stop the bleeding.” She focused on that and says the bleeding stopped.

For Helene, this became a real-life demonstration of something she had learned through The Silva Method: where we put our attention matters.

Healing

Helene also talks about experiencing pain in waves. Rather than focusing on the pain itself, she would focus on healing and allow her body to do what it needed to do.

Later, after a bladder infection required surgery, Helene continued to use visualization and her “thought-form doctor,” something she had talked about in her books and other interviews. She imagined this doctor beside her, giving her advice and reassurance.

One of the most striking parts of the story comes after her surgery. Her doctors were surprised that she had not experienced the bleeding they expected. Helene’s explanation? “It’s mind over matter.”

Philosophy

Now, there is an important distinction here. Helene shared her personal experiences and beliefs, not a metaphysical technique meant to replace professional medical care. You will note she took a combined approach. What matters is the principle behind her stories: she believed we have more influence over our thoughts, responses, and experiences than we often realize.

And that idea runs through so much of Helene’s work.

She didn’t want to simply sit back and wait for something to happen. She wanted to participate. To focus her mind. To listen to her intuition. To imagine the outcome she wanted and then take action.

That’s a pretty good philosophy for winning in life, whether you’re entering a contest, pursuing a goal, or simply trying to get through a difficult situation.
